Coordinator of Outreach Programs
OBJECTIVE: To assist the Director of Outreach Programs in implementing Outreach projects including Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshops in Grimes and Leon Counties; and implementing Students Taking Action for Respect (STAR) Programs in high schools located in Outreach Counties.
Hours Per Week: Approximately 10 No Pay
- Will work with Director of Outreach Programs to plan and implement Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshops in two outreach counties.*
- Will contact local law enforcement, district and county attorneys, county judges, and crime victim coordinators about being on an information panel.
- Will contact local self defense experts to present self defense maneuvers.
- Will locate a venue for each workshop.
- Will contact vendors in the county to solicit donations for door prizes.
- Responsible for marketing the workshops in each county, including developing all public service announcements and press releases, and sending them local media. Will call to schedule an “on-air” time slot for Director of Outreach Programs on KBTX.
- Will develop an Outreach Self Defense binder for each county with all contact persons, activities completed, checklist, etc. to be turned in at the end of the internship.
- Will develop agendas and training materials for high school students in the STAR Program.
- Will assist Director of Outreach Programs with other projects as needed.
*Intern will not be responsible for attending Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshops.
Coordinator of Event Planning and Resource Management
OBJECIVE: To assist the Director of Programs and Data Management with clerical program planning and administrative duties.
Hours Per Week: Approximately 10 No Pay
- Primary duty will be to coordinate Watch Your Drink, Watch Your Friend Campaign and the Brazos County Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshop.
- Will conatct area nightclubs throught letters/follup-calls.
- Will assist with budgeting and ordering supplies
- Will develop and modify WYD, WYF folder.
- Will book a location for the Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshop
- Will with with DP/DM to plan workshop.
- Will complete donation mailing and follow-up.
- Will Contact and book speakers/presenters.
- WIll develop and modify Safety Awareness and Self Defense Binder.
- Will assist DP/DM with daily reporting for data management.
- Will gather statistical information for grant reports
- Will assist with completing client folders

Research and Administration Specialist - 2 Openings Available
Objective: To assist the Executive Director in center administration and research for specialized projects. This internship/practicum will provide first-hand experience in non-profit executive administration and operations.
Hours per week: Approximately 10 No Pay
Under the direction of the Executive Director, intern will
- Perform research on drug facilitated sexual assault
- Perform a statistical analysis of SARC drug facilitated sexual assault cases
- Develop new client satisfaction survey
- Assist in grant research and writing
- Develop a plan for one center fundraiser
- Assist in clerical and administrative duties as needed
The ideal candidate for this internship should have excellent writing skills and must be able to work independently. This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students.
