24hr Crisis Hotline & Accompaniments

SARC is proud to provide a crisis hotline and medical accompaniments 24/7/365! We could not do this without the help of our volunteer advocates who are equipped with 40 hours of training and supported by a staff member on call. These advocates volunteer their time to answer the crisis hotline, provided crisis intervention or just an anonymous listening ear. If the hotline receives a request for an accompaniment for a forensic exam with a survivor, an advocate will meet the survivor at the hospital to walk through the process with the survivor and provide resources. These advocates help advocate for the survivor and help to ensure that they area aware of their rights. The following are situations in which you could request an advocate accompany you for support:
  • The hospital for a forensic exam
  • A doctor's office if receiving treatment related to your sexual assault (ex: STI testing)
  • The police station to report a sexual assault
  • In court hearings for your sexual assault
  • A Title IX hearing
  • Etc.
Please contact us for further information on requesting an accompaniment!
