Acompáñenos a una versión inolvidable de un desfile de moda tradicional. Sobrevivientes y activistas de todo el Valle de Brazos caminarán para compartir sus historias y crear conciencia para reducir la violencia sexual en nuestras comunidades.

Volunteer

VOLUNTARIO

Como voluntario/a de SARC, brindarás apoyo y defensa cruciales a las sobrevivientes de violencia sexual. Nuestros voluntarios atienden la línea directa disponible las 24 horas y se reúnen personalmente con sobrevivientes de agresión sexual en hospitales cercanos, agencias del orden público y juzgados.

DEFENSOR VOLUNTARIO

​Volunteer Advocates are required to attend a 40-hour Office of the Attorney General training course provided by SARC. Advocates commit to a minimum of  2 shifts per month providing services through our hotline or accompaniment programs to survivors of sexual violence.

Process for Becoming a Volunteer Advocate

  1. Submit Application: Begin by submitting your application through Better Impact.

  2. Complete New Volunteer Orientation: Watch the New Volunteer Orientation video, available on Better Impact, to familiarize yourself with the program and expectations.

  3. Interview: Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview.

  4. Background Check: A background check and reference follow-up will be conducted as part of the screening process.

  5. Acceptance Decision: After reviewing your application and interview, our Volunteer Team will contact you regarding your next steps with the SARC Volunteer Program. 

Once Accepted:

  • Complete Volunteer Training: The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you and schedule your official Volunteer Training. The training consists of 40 hours of instruction, which includes 3 weeks of in-person classes (Monday through Thursday, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM) as well as self-paced study. The in-person classes are offered several times throughout the year. 

  • Become an Active Advocate: Upon successful completion of your training, you will be officially approved as an active volunteer advocate with SARC, ready to make a positive impact in the lives of survivors.

DEFENSOR VOLUNTARIO
Internships are available to undergraduate students who are studying in related fields and graduate students in Social Work or Counseling. 

SARC offers internships for all semesters. Interns commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week in-office for their semester and are provided with projects to complete.
